Working with Notion: what you need to know

The first reason I joined Notion was the opportunities.

‍I used to work in Excel. I used to make plans, write various tasks, etc. But over time, I began to realize that this was not enough for me.

The next reason was clients.

We used to make content plans in Excel as a team, but now 80% of our clients have moved to Notion with us because they all want a picture, video, story, etc. to go with the text. And it's very inconvenient to do this in Excel. And you know what, all our clients thanked us for such a cool initiative as Notion.

The third reason is its ease, speed, intuitive interface, and many different templates, which I will talk about later.

"There are so many things that are not clear," I heard several times from my friends. But I tried to convince them otherwise, because it's not true at all. So let me tell you why Notion is a must-have for work in 2023 and 2024

Notion is a powerful all-in-one workspace designed for notes, tasks, content plans, strategies, and many more useful features. It is an effective project management tool that also improves team collaboration, knowledge sharing, insights, and productivity.

What makes this platform truly unique is that it allows users to tailor the work to their specific needs and preferences. You can change, rearrange, and create everything here.

‍Peculiarities of working with Notion

Notion has powerful filtering and sorting capabilities. You can instantly find the data you need by filtering based on properties, sorting by various criteria, or using advanced search.

You can view information in different formats: table, calendar, board, gallery, or list. This versatility makes it easy to visualize and work with data in the way that suits you best.

Notion offers a number of conveniently and adaptively designed templates for different use cases, from project management to personal purposes. You can also create your own templates, making it easy to get started with new projects or databases. (more on templates later) You can also share data with team members, allowing for real-time collaborative editing. This is especially useful for teams working together on projects or managing shared tasks.

How to use Notion

The first step to getting started with Notion is to create an account. It's easy to sign up - visit the Notion website and click the "Sign Up" button. You will be asked to provide an email address and create a password.

‍After that, you can start using Notion. The first time you log in to Notion, you will be taken to your workspace. The interface is intuitive, with a sidebar on the left containing all your pages and databases. You can navigate to different sections of your workspace. Notion makes it easy to find what you're looking for, so you can focus on your work instead of getting lost in menus.

Notion allows you to customize your workspace in several ways. You can change the color scheme to match your personal style, add a profile photo to make your workspace more personal, and customize the layout of your workspace to suit your preferences. One of the most powerful features of Notion is the ability to create different pages and sections to organize your work. For example, you can create a page for each project you're working on, with sections for notes, to-do lists, and project deadlines.

The thing to remember when it comes to Notion is that it is designed to work for you. It is unique in that it allows for endless customization. Here are some very important customization tools that are worth trying:

- Workplace URL. You have the ability to create a workspace URL that only people from their authorized email domain can enter. You can keep your workspace private and collaborate in real time.

- Templates. Notion offers a variety of templates that allow you to organize your work in a way that is convenient for personal use or for your team

- Cross-platform synchronization.  Notion works on different platforms, so you can find everything you need, where you need it. Whether on the bus or at your desk. And downloading the mobile app means you'll have your entire workspace at your fingertips.

If you don't try it, you won't feel all the benefits of working with Notion, and they are very tangible. It will greatly simplify your work and set you on the right track.
